‘Glances in Plain Sight’ presented by Cine Apartamento in collaboration with Materials and Applications — a short film program and archival loop, 2025
‘Glances in Plain Sight’ offers an evening featuring a short film program curated by Cine Apartamento, consisting of works Behind Every Good Man and Fun with a Sausage, which explore surveillance, cruising, policing, gender, and sexuality. This program expands upon and contextualizes the interactive installation Trade Safe Chastity Box by Strat Coffman & Adam Barrett Miller, inviting visitors to engage with intimacy, public display, and architectures of surveillance.
As part of the activation, Cine Apartamento premieres a 3-minute looping archival piece that reconfigures notions of sex, the state, and queer bodies, while the installation and its reflections examine surveilled bodies, public space, government, and histories of visibility in Los Angeles.

‘Tethered Desire’ is a short film program hosted by Cine Apartamento, featuring three shorts that explore the complex nature of longing, shame, and connection. Dissolution of Bodies (2007), I’m Starving (1998), and Last Full Show (2005) unfold across quiet apartments, secret cinemas, and late-night encounters, where desire remains a question without clear answers and a yearning shaped by memory, culture, and time.
